The 992.2 generation of the Porsche 911 brings significant changes to this iconic sports car, notably featuring the introduction of the new T-Hybrid powertrain in the Carrera GTS. This 3.6-liter engine incorporates electrification by adding a 1.9 kWh, 400-volt battery pack, and replaces the twin-turbo setup with a single electrically assisted turbocharger, ensuring lag-free performance.
Enhanced Power and Efficiency
The GTS’s hybrid system integrates an electric motor into the 8-speed PDK transmission, delivering 49 kW of power and 150 Nm (approx. 108 lb-ft) of torque. Combined, the GTS churns out an impressive 398 kW and 610 Nm (approx. 450 lb-ft), an increase of 45 kW and 40 Nm (approx. 30 lb-ft) compared to the previous version. This allows the new Porsche 911 GTS to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Despite the electric hardware adding about 50 kg (110 lbs) to the vehicle’s weight, it also contributes to reduced emissions.
High-Performance Features
The facelifted Porsche 911 GTS comes equipped with a dual-exit sports exhaust, rear-axle steering, 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear, adaptive dampers, and a revised interior. A highlight is the fully digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster, offering different themes and apps like Spotify and Apple Music.
Powertrain Options and Configurations
Future Variants and Availability
The entire GTS line (coupe, convertible, and Targa) will feature the T-Hybrid powertrain, allowing customers to choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Visual updates include 4-point LED matrix headlights, a new rear grille, an illuminated “Porsche” logo, and aerodynamic enhancements such as new front air intakes, a reworked front bumper, and an adjusted rear diffuser.
Currently, the facelifted line includes only the GTS and the base Carrera model. For enthusiasts awaiting other variants, such as the Carrera S, Turbo, Turbo S, and GT2, the wait will extend until late 2025/2026.
The base Carrera is available with a dual-clutch PDK transmission, equipped with a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine featuring upgraded turbochargers and a larger intercooler. This engine delivers 290 kW and 450 Nm (approx. 332 lb-ft), accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, a time that can be reduced with the Sport Chrono package.
The new 992.2 generation Porsche 911 combines technological innovation with cutting-edge performance, staying true to the brand’s tradition of excellence. With the introduction of the T-Hybrid powertrain, the 911 GTS sets new benchmarks for efficiency and power, reaffirming its position as one of the most desirable sports cars on the market.
