BMW has redefined the strategy for its top-tier SUV, the XM, starting in 2026. The brand decided to eliminate the entry-level version, focusing all production on the powerful Label variant. This change positions the XM as an extreme, no-compromise performance vehicle, aimed at an audience seeking the utmost power and exclusivity in a plug-in hybrid SUV package.
The heart of this machine is a powertrain that combines a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 738 horsepower. This power allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, rivaling supercars. The top speed can reach 175 mph with the M Driver’s package, solidifying its high-performance status.
Beyond the powertrain, the 2026 model brings significant updates. Battery charging has been optimized to be faster, and new customization options have been added, such as the exterior color Frozen Tanzanite Blue and exclusive Merino leather interior combinations. Production begins in August, with an estimated price expected to exceed $190,000, reflecting its position in the ultra-luxury segment.
