First generation, from 1998.
The Audi TT was launched with 2 body options: coupé and roadster. It used the same platform as other Volkswagen models and had a 1.8 turbo engine with two power versions: 180 hp and 225 hp.
It had stability problems at high speeds and needed a recall to add electronic control and a rear spoiler. It was well-received by critics and received a facelift in 2003.
Second generation, from 2006.
This generation had an aluminum and steel body, a 2.0 TFSI and 3.2 VR6 engine, with front-wheel or quattro all-wheel drive and an active suspension system called Audi Magnetic Ride.
The design was more angular and dynamic than the first generation, inspired by the 2005 Audi Shooting Brake concept. It also had special versions like the TT quattro Sport and the TT RS.
Third Generation, from 2014.
This generation uses the MQB platform. It has gasoline and diesel engines, with emphasis on the 2.0 TFSI with 314 hp that equips the TTS and the 2.5 TFSI with 406 hp that equips the TT RS.
The drivetrain is quattro all-wheel drive on gasoline models and front-wheel drive on diesel models. It has an innovative interior with air conditioning controls integrated into the air vents.
