The 2025 GMC Terrain arrives with a refreshed look, aligned with GMC’s robust identity, seeking to differentiate itself from the Chevrolet Equinox, with which it shares the same mechanical underpinnings. Initially, only the entry-level Elevation trim is available, with the AT4 and Denali variants expected for 2026.

All versions are equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 175 horsepower, paired with a CVT transmission for front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic for all-wheel drive. The Elevation stands out for its good standard equipment package, including heated front seats and steering wheel, as well as generous infotainment screens and a digital instrument panel, offering a spacious interior for passengers.

Despite the good interior space and equipment, the 2025 Terrain falls short in terms of noise insulation and, mainly, in its driving experience, considered “forgettable,” and its slow acceleration. Fuel consumption also lags behind some direct competitors.

However, the braking system proved to be efficient. The future AT4 versions, focused on off-road capability, and the Denali, the luxury option, promise more features and differentiated finishes, but do not significantly alter the vehicle’s performance.

The 2025 GMC Terrain Elevation presents itself as a functional option with good value for money for those who prioritize interior space and essential equipment.

Its robust appearance may attract a specific audience, but the lack of driving excitement and less efficient fuel consumption may be negative points for some. The future AT4 and Denali versions raise the level of features and refinement but maintain the same performance characteristics.
