BYD Launches 1000kW Charger: 400km in 5 Minutes!

The Chinese giant BYD has just raised the bar for electric vehicle charging. The company introduced the Megawatt Flash Charger, an ultrafast 1000 kW charger that promises to revolutionize the experience for EV drivers.

This impressive speed is made possible by the charger’s compatibility with 1000V high-voltage systems found in BYD’s latest electric vehicles. The company’s president, Wang Chuanfu, announced ambitious plans to install over 4,000 of these ultrafast charging stations across China.

Overcoming Criticism and Boosting Performance

To address this issue, BYD developed a new generation of vehicles with a 1000V electrical architecture designed to optimize the performance of the Megawatt Flash Charger. The BYD Megawatt Flash Charger stands out as the first charging station for passenger vehicles to operate at 1000V and 1000A, reaching a power output of 1 MW. Tests have shown that the charger achieves this maximum power in just 10 seconds.

Models such as the BYD Han L EV and the Tang L EV were used in testing, proving the charger’s efficiency. In a specific test, charging from 7% to 50% of the battery was completed in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds. This performance significantly exceeds the charging technologies currently available in the market.

Innovative Technology Drives Performance
