Xpeng G6 and G9 2025: Revamped and More Affordable Electric SUVs

The electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Motors has just launched the 2025 versions of its G6 and G9 SUVs. The updated models arrive with a modern design, enhanced technological features, and, most importantly, more affordable prices. Xpeng’s strategy aims to further boost sales growth in the competitive electric vehicle market.

Unveiled in Guangzhou, the company’s headquarters, the new G6 and G9 reflect Xpeng’s accumulated experience, particularly with the previous G9 model. Both SUVs offer simplified options focused on consumer needs.

2025 Xpeng G6: More Affordable with Ultra-Fast Charging

The 2025 Xpeng G6 enters the market with three distinct versions, priced starting at 176,800 RMB (approximately $24,400). The other options are priced at 186,800 RMB and 198,800 RMB, respectively. This new entry price represents a significant reduction of 11.56% compared to the previous G6 version, which had six options and starting prices of 199,900 RMB.

The public response was immediate. Xpeng announced that the 2025 G6 surpassed 5,000 firm orders within the first seven minutes after its launch, demonstrating the strong market interest in the revamped model.

Originally launched in June 2023, the G6 played a crucial role in Xpeng’s sales recovery. The 2025 version presents a slight increase in length, reaching 4,758 mm, while maintaining a width of 1,920 mm and a height of 1,650 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. The SUV is built on an 800-volt platform and offers 5C charging, allowing it to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes. This is a notable advancement over the previous model, which offered 3C charging with the same 10% to 80% charging time of 20 minutes.

The more affordable versions of the 2025 G6 offer a range of 625 kilometers (CLTC cycle), while the top-of-the-line version achieves 725 kilometers. All three variants are rear-wheel drive models with a single motor producing a maximum power of 218 kW and maximum torque of 450 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h ranges from 6.4 seconds for the more affordable versions to 6.3 seconds for the more expensive version.

2025 Xpeng G9: Better Equipped and Lower Priced

The 2025 Xpeng G9 also arrives with three versions, priced starting at 248,800 RMB, 258,800 RMB, and 278,800 RMB. Compared to the 2024 version of the G9, which had six variants and a starting price of 263,900 RMB, the 2025 model shows a price reduction of 5.72%, or 15,100 RMB.

The dimensions of the 2025 G9 remain virtually unchanged from its predecessor, measuring 4,891 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height, and having a wheelbase of 2,998 mm. Like the 2025 G6, the G9 also uses the 800-volt platform and offers ultra-fast 5C charging, with the same charging time of 12 minutes (10% to 80%). The previous version of the G9 had 3C charging with the same charging time of 20 minutes.

An important highlight of the 2025 G9 is the dual-chamber air suspension, which is now offered as standard across all versions. Previously, the air suspension was only available on the most expensive version of the 2024 G9.

The 2025 G9 offers two rear-wheel drive versions with a single motor and an all-wheel drive version with two motors. The range (CLTC cycle) is 625 km, 725 km, and 680 km, respectively. The single-motor versions deliver a maximum power of 258 kW and maximum torque of 465 Nm, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 or 6.4 seconds. The all-wheel drive version delivers a maximum power of 423 kW and maximum torque of 695 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds.

Smart Technology and High Sales Expectations

Both the 2025 G6 and G9 come equipped with the Turing AI intelligent driving system, which includes two Nvidia Drive Orin chips with a total computing power of 508 TOPS. Similar to the P7+ sedan launched last year, Xpeng removed the LiDAR from the new G6 and G9, opting for a purely vision-based intelligent driving system.

The updates to the G6 and G9 aim to further drive Xpeng’s sales growth. In 2024, the G6 sold 54,463 units, representing 28.65% of the 190,068 units delivered by Xpeng that year. The G9 contributed 26,954 units, or 14.18% of the total.

Xpeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng, expressed confidence in doubling deliveries in 2024. In January and February, the company delivered 60,803 vehicles, a 375.21% increase compared to the same period last year, primarily driven by the new Mona M03 and P7+ models. With the new G6 and G9, Xpeng aims to solidify its position in the electric vehicle market and achieve even more ambitious sales goals.
