Langen LS12 Turbo: The New Rival of the Kawasaki Ninja H2R?

Langen Motorcycles, a British brand of handcrafted motorcycles, is about to shake up the supermachine world with its new creation: the Langen LS12 Turbo. This model promises to challenge the legendary Kawasaki Ninja H2R, which currently holds the title of the fastest production motorcycle in the world. But does the LS12 Turbo have what it takes to dethrone the H2R? Let’s analyze every detail of this new rocket on two wheels.

The Rise of Langen Motorcycles

Founded in 2018, Langen Motorcycles is a British manufacturer known for its exclusive creations and focus on performance. Its first production model was a 250cc two-stroke motorcycle, a true revival of this concept after nearly three decades without innovation in the segment. Now, the brand seeks even higher aspirations with the LS12 Turbo, a model that promises to combine cutting-edge engineering with stunning aesthetics.

The DNA of the Langen LS12: Engine, Chassis, and Premium Components

The foundation of the LS12 Turbo is the Langen Light Speed (LS12), equipped with a 1190cc V-twin engine originally designed to deliver 185 hp. However, the turbocharged version elevates this figure, with a system that allows it to reach up to 300 hp in maximum power mode.

The structure of the LS12 Turbo consists of a high-strength tubular steel chassis combined with a carbon fiber body. To maintain stability and offer precise handling, the model features Öhlins suspension and Hel brakes, ensuring safe braking even at high speeds.

LS12 Turbo: The Power of the Turbocharged Engine

The major revolution of the LS12 Turbo lies in the use of a turbocharger, which boosts its power to an impressive 300 hp in maximum mode. In street mode, the bike delivers 250 hp, ensuring breathtaking performance even in everyday situations.

To minimize the dreaded “turbo lag,” Langen developed a custom ECU that optimizes engine response. This system aims to maintain a linear and predictable power delivery, a crucial concern when dealing with such a powerful motorcycle.

Kawasaki Ninja H2R vs. Langen LS12 Turbo: Who Comes Out on Top?

The Kawasaki Ninja H2R is a living legend, boasting 305 hp and a history of records. In 2016, rider Kenan Sofuoglu took the H2R to an impressive speed of 402 km/h, solidifying its position as the fastest production motorcycle in the world.

The Langen LS12 Turbo aims to compete for this title, but faces a significant challenge: aerodynamics. Unlike the Ninja H2R, which has a fairing designed to reduce drag and improve stability at extreme speeds, the LS12 Turbo adopts a more “naked” design, which could compromise its performance at very high speeds.

Another point to consider is availability and support. While the Kawasaki H2R is a well-established product from one of the world’s largest manufacturers, the LS12 Turbo is still in the development phase, with testing scheduled for late 2025.

The Future of the Langen LS12 Turbo

Langen has big ambitions and is seeking funding to bring the LS12 Turbo to market. The model will be produced in a limited run, which increases its exclusivity but also raises questions about price and global availability.

If it can overcome the aerodynamic and funding challenges, the Langen LS12 Turbo could truly become a serious contender for the Kawasaki Ninja H2R. But until the first speed tests take place, the crown still belongs to the iconic H2R.
